Novaport: Emera Island Period #7

Tsunami

As minutes turned into hours, there was still no sign of Mikai. He did not show up at the Wai's hut like Amber had warned. Dyami was growing restless, and so was the weather.

Dyami: I thought you said Mikai was coming here?

Amber: I...I don't know where he is.

Toni: Can't you just go and find him?

Hana: It's starting to rain...

Amber: And what if he comes here while I'm gone?

Dyami: He is just one man. We can easily handle him.

Hana: How about I stay here. And you go and find him, Amber?

Amber: You're the one who broke his heart. You find him.

Hana: Yes, I know...it's all my fault...

Amber: Pitying yourself is not going to help anyone.

Toni: Ladies...ladies, let's calm down.

Amber: Oh, you-

Dyami: Shut up, the lot of you. I'll decide what happens.

Amber: What gives you the right?

Dyami: You're in my home, and I am in charge here.

Hana: I'll...I'll go and find him.

Toni: No offence, Hana, but if he tries to do anything to you, you wouldn't stand a chance.

Dyami: Toni is right. You go, Amber. After all, you didn't break his heart or whatever the fuck this is all about.

Amber: Fine, if it means I get a break from this insufferable bunch.

With that, Amber stormed off in search of her brother.

Toni: Women...right?

Hana: ...

Dyami: I will kill you before Mikai does if you do not shut up, Toni.

The rain was growing heavier, and Amber was finding it difficult to wade through the muddy plains and peer past the dense clouds. She called out her brother's name numerous times, but the pounding droplets drowned her voice out.

Amber absolutely hated rain.

To make matters worse, lightning began to tear up the night sky. Over at the Honua residence, the thunder awoke Sommer. The last time that she heard something so fierce, was the night her aunt died. She wondered how Hana was doing in this weather, as she slept outside on a hammock.

Sommer tip-toed outside, but found the dripping wet hammock empty. It wasn't like Hana to be out this late. However, Sommer was not prepared to look for her, and ran back inside. Her soggy footprints woke up her mother.

Kohana: This damned rain...it's going to ruin the crops.

Sommer: Mother...Hana is gone.

Kohana: Gone?

Sommer: Yes, she's not in her hammock.

Kohana: Maybe she sought shelter in the big hut.

Sommer: That would make sense...

The very same lightning also startled Yuma Uila. He was reading a book at home, when the thunder reminded him of his first and only kill. A smirk appeared on his dimmed face while recollecting that fateful night. Meanwhile, his brothers were sound asleep in their beds, undisturbed by the brewing storm.

Back at the Wai residence, Dyami and Toni were still outside, waiting. Hana had gone inside the hut for shelter, where she found Nami consoling Odin, who was frightened of the weather.

Nami: Odin isn't a storm chaser like me

Hana: Does he...know?

Nami: All he knows is that there is a terrible storm.

Outside, the Wai brothers noticed something coming over the horizon.

Dyami: Do you see that?

Toni: It's a bit hard...

Dyami: I think there's something in the sea, or coming from it

Toni: You know what the waves are like during this type of weather

Dyami: It's a bit bigger than that

Finally, Toni was able to see what his brother saw.

A giant wave heading their way.

Toni: Shit...it's coming right for us

Dyami: Nami...Odin...I need to save them

Toni: Dyami, wait-

As Dyami left his brother, a great curtain of water hit them. Toni's body was pulled into the current, while Dyami slammed open the hut's door, letting in a gush of water before becoming submerged.

Nami: Dyami!

Hana: We need to leave, now!

Nami: I can't...I can't leave Dyami...

Hana: What about Odin!?

Nami: Take him...with you

Hana: Are you serious!?

Nami: Hurry, please!

Immediately, Hana dragged Odin from his soddened bed and fought through the vicious waves while Nami cried out for her husband. Hana held the boy close to her body, protecting his innocent face from the suffocating wrath of the water. While she was unsure if she would make it to the coming morning, Hana was determined to bring Odin to safety at the very least.

By this point, many residents on the island had been abruptly awoken by the storm, which was tearing through the terrain relentlessly. No hut was safe, for they were all built with bamboo and straw. But there was one exception.

The very place where this all started - Pouli Kupua's residence.

Mikai was watching the onslaught from the front door, close to where he had assisted with Pouli's spell, just moments before.

Pouli: It's beautiful, isn't it?

Mikai: What have I done...

Novaport: Emera Island Period #6

Love Is In The Sea Air

Although many relationships in Emera seem to fall apart, some of them have stood the test of time.

Tano and Leia

Leia was the only heir to her tribe, which had faced many years of bad luck. She was stuck in the middle of her ageing mother and dying uncle, who both wanted different things for Leia. Her mother emphasised that Leia had to find a good husband, one from a strong tribe, whilst her uncle hoped for her to remain unmarried. If she were to marry, Leia would be expected to take her husband's name and integrate into his family, as per the societal norm of the time.

The constant arguments between her family members greatly tormented Leia. She would often go on walks, to escape it all.

On one particular rainy day, Leia came across a blonde man who appeared to be jumping in puddles. It amused her. The man soon noticed Leia in the distance, grinning at him.

This man was Tano Ea.

Tano: What's funny?

Leia approaches him, embarrassed.

Leia: It's just...well, I wish I had as little to worry about as you...

Tano: I have much to worry about, actually.

Leia: Oh, I'm sorry...I didn't mean to assume...it's just you're out here, in the pouring rain. Playing in puddles.

Tano: It's a rain dance. I am thanking the sky for the weather.

Leia: For rain?

Tano: Yes, it will water the crops on the island, after the heatwave we've had.

The man was fascinating to Leia. How had she never seen him before?

Leia: Can I...can I join?

Tano: Um...yes, sure...

Tano was the heir to the Ea tribe, one of the big five on the island. They were known for their neutral stance in conflicts, but they were often ostracised due to their asocial attitude. The Uila tribe especially ridiculed them, for they had opposing intellectual ideas.

However, Leia paid little attention to the lives of the other tribes, for her family gave her enough problems to deal with. Therefore, she had no prejudice when it came to talking to members of these tribes.

The pair spent roughly an hour dancing in the rain. It had been a long time since Leia last had fun like this, even though she fell into the mud a few times. When Tano decided to leave for home, Leia asked him if they could do this again, when it next rained.

Tano: You...you want to do it, again?

Leia: Of course, I haven't enjoyed myself this much for a while

Tano: This isn't a game, it's serious.

Leia: What do you mean?

Tano: Do you know much, about how the weather works?

Leia: Um...maybe you can tell me?

Tano: Are you...you will need to keep an open-mind, otherwise it's pointless.

Leia: Sure, tell me everything!

Tano: Well, we'd have to organise lessons. It's too much to explain in one day.

Leia was unsure of what she had signed herself up for, but she didn't care. For the rest of that day, all she thought about was Tano. When she eventually slept, she dreamed of them jumping in puddles for hours on end.

Soon, it was the day of Leia's first lesson with Tano. They met along one of the beaches, where Tano explained how the sky influenced the waves. Leia found it interesting, asking her mentor plenty of questions, which surprised Tano. He had never met anyone from outside the Ea tribe who cared about his knowledge.

With every lesson, Leia grew more intrigued about Tano, whom soon became the priority over his teachings. She had grown too comfortable with sitting on the beach, listening to his words that were accompanied by the peaceful waves. If only she could do this forever...

Leia was on Tano's mind, too. She showed him how to experience the excitement in doing trivial activities; how satisfying it was to be in the company of another. But these feelings terrified Tano.

At some point, it got too much, and he told Leia that he had to discontinue their lessons.

Leia: I don't understand...

Tano: You have enough knowledge now, to figure things out on your own. To do your own research.

Leia: But...I don't want the lessons to end...

Tano: Then find someone you can mentor.

Leia: No...I mean...I want to keep seeing you.

Tano: Well, you can't.

Leia: Why not?

Tano: Because...I already told you. I can't spoon-feed you everything.

Leia: You don't have to...I just don't want to say goodbye. Not yet...

Tano turns to walk away.

Leia: Wait! Tano, I- you don't know how much you help me. I...I like you...a lot...I- I want to be with you.

Tano stops in his tracks, and looks back at Leia.

Tano: What do you mean?

Leia: I...I want to spend the rest of my days, on the beach. Listening to you. Dancing in the rain...

Tano was unsure of how to react, for he wasn't good with feelings.

Tano: I...don't know what to say.

Leia: You don't have to say anything.

Leia gently placed her palms on Tano's face, her thumbs caressing his cheeks in a circular motion. Her sapphire eyes stared deeply into his, while eclipsing Tano's lips with hers.

Dyami and Nami

Like Leia, Nami was part of an almost-extinct minor tribe. She was first discovered by Dyami's brother, Toni, who initially saw her one night staring at the sea near the Wai residence.

This is how she spent most of her nights, getting lost in the endless teal waves that gently slapped against the aurous shores of Emera Island. They were as alluring as she was.

Toni had to find her somehow. Nami wasn't hard to miss, for her hair burned as brightly as the anger Toni had for the Ahi tribe, and her eyes were as lush as the island's greenery.

So, Toni spent days hanging around the local market, hoping that she would eventually swing by. After all, it was the only place to purchase goods and mingle with other residents. Two weeks went by before Nami made an appearance. As soon as he saw her, Toni's feet approached her without any input from his brain.

After sweet-talking her a little, Toni asked if Nami would prefer to move their conversation elsewhere - to the shores, where he first saw her.

Toni: You know the one thing that is more beautiful than the sea?

Nami: Life?

Toni; No, it's you. I first saw you, right here. Looking at the waves.

Nami: I don't know...I don't think it's possible for any Sim to be comparable to the sea. It's too mesmerising-

Toni: So are you.

Nami: Ha...you're quite the charmer...

Toni: Not a fan?

Nami: It's quite amusing, actually.

Toni: So you think I'm funny?

Nami: If it makes you feel better :)

The two would meet frequently, strolling along the golden coast of the island while discussing trivial topics. Toni would push Nami into the sea, and she would splash him back with great force. They built miniature structures with wet sand, and combed the beach for unique shells.

For weeks, all Toni would talk about with his brother was Nami, but Dyami had heard it all before with various other women.

Toni: You should see her...she is breath-taking.

Dyami: You say that about every woman on this island...

Toni: Yes, but Nami is not like the others. She has such unique hair, like fire.

Dyami: Fire...heh

Toni: She isn't very clingy, either. We can have a good time without worrying about love or anything like that.

Dyami: Then what is the point?

Toni: The point is, that she is beautiful, and fun.

Dyami: Is that really all you care about? One day you're going to have to settle down, you know.

Toni: And how's that working out for you?

Dyami: ...

Toni: Maybe I should bring her over, just so that you can understand.

Dyami: Sure.

The next evening, Nami arrived at the Wai hut for dinner. Just like every woman that Toni had brought over before, she was indeed attractive. When Dyami shook her supple hand, and looked into her bejewelled eyes, his body froze from Nami's warming appearance.

Nami's beauty seeped through into her personality. She was as serene as the calm ocean, as captivating as the summer sun, and as harmonious as the palm trees that swayed in the sea breeze. She was a breath of fresh air; a distraction from the turmoil of the Ahi tribe's fury.

At some point during the night, Dyami found himself alone with Nami. He felt the need to warn her about his brother. Perhaps it was because Dyami wanted her for himself, or because she was too innocent to suffer from the heartbreak Toni would eventually bestow upon her.

Dyami: There's something you should know about Toni. He's my brother, and I love him, but...he's not had a good history with women, if you know what I mean.

Nami: I...I don't think I could be with him, seriously.

Dyami: Oh?

Nami: When we first met, I got the sense that he...he's that sort of man who plays around with women's feelings.

Dyami: Then...why are you here?

Nami: I like him...just not in that way. It's nice to take a step back, and not worry about anything more permanent, before I have to think about marriage...

Dyami: I see.

Nami: And I know he feels that way, too.

Nami's words were a bit of a blow to Dyami. If she wasn't actually interested in Toni, and did not want anything serious at the moment, then what chance did he have?

Nami: If I were to get married, it would be with a man who was more...mature, more earnest.

These terms perfectly described Dyami, but he was oblivious; too caught up in Nami's eyes that he wished to stare into for eternity.

Toni: He likes you.

Toni had appeared from nowhere, with a smug grin on his face. He hadn't heard everything that the two had been discussing, but he knew his brother. Dyami didn't typically zone out of conversations, for he was a man of focus.

Nami: Hi, Toni...

Dyami did not know what to say, so he remained silent as his cheeks became a slight hue of red.

Toni: It's okay, brother.

Dyami: I- I don't know what you're talking about.

Toni: It was so obvious when you shook Nami's hand. Surely you noticed, Nami?

Nami: Um...I...

Toni: You know, a couple of weeks ago, Nami and I were on the beach. I was asking her about her type, and she didn't describe me at all.

Nami: That is true...but how is that relevant?

Toni: Because you basically said your type was Dyami.

Dyami: Huh?

Nami: Is...is that why you invited me around!?

Toni: Not at first. I just wanted to rub it in Dyami's face, but then-

Nami: You're awful.

Toni: I'm just looking out for my brother. He's had no luck with women, and he isn't getting any young-

Dyami: Because you've already got with them all.

Nami: Oh...Toni and I, we haven't done anything like...that...

Dyami: I'm not interested.

Toni had humiliated his brother, although this wasn't new. Dyami stormed off to the hut, leaving Nami and Toni to pick up the pieces.

Nami: It was a sweet thing to do, Toni, but you went about it in a very wrong way...

Toni: Eh, well, if he's not interested, that means I can still see you.

Nami: I...I should tell you that...I only see you as a friend, Toni.

Toni: What do you mean? You flirt with me all the time!

Nami: It's just fun and games...I could never actually be with you.

Toni: Really?

Nami: No strings attached, remember?

With that, Nami left the Wai property. Toni stood there for a while, shocked that a woman didn't have feelings for him. This time, he was the one going crazy over her.

A couple of weeks later, Dyami was at the market, delivering fish with his brother. As they were unloading the heavy bodies of mahi mahi and wahoo, Nami had arrived for a look around. Toni was the first one to notice her, and signalled at his brother.

Toni: You should talk to her.

Dyami: I'm good.

Toni: If you don't, I'll call her over. Make a big scene.

Dyami: Haven't you embarrassed me enough?

Toni: Hey, you told me after that night, that you DID like Nami. Time to do something about it.

Dyami: Fine...if it makes you shut up.

Dyami awkwardly approached the ginger woman, rehearsing a script in his head. But before he could get his words out, Nami greeted him.

Nami: Have you recovered?

Dyami: What...no, yeah, I'm...fine.

Nami: Wow...you really are the opposite of your brother.

Dyami: Uh...good?

Nami: After you're done with the fish, perhaps we could get a drink? Start over fresh...

Dyami: I- yeah...let's do that.

At first, Dyami was shy, but Nami didn't mind. She found it adorable. They began by talking about Toni, and as Dyami complained about the many gripes he had with his brother, he became more comfortable. Then, they discussed their love of the sea, which was something the pair very much had in common. Minutes turned to hours, and soon the sun was beginning to set.

Dyami: Should we...go to the beach...watch the sunset?

Nami: I'd like that very much.

Novaport: Emera Island Period #5

Boiling Point

Obsession.

The only word that eclipsed Mikai's being.

After everything that happened concerning Hana, he had become fixated; determined to seek revenge on Toni Wai, while failing to recognise the detriment of his own actions. Mikai's mind was overcrowded with painful thoughts; the longing for Hana's affection; the shortening of Toni's existence.

But soon this obsession would eclipse the entirety of Emera Island.

Mikai's Misery

It had been a while since Mikai had heard anything from Hana. He could not sleep at night without thinking about her; it was driving him insane. Every time he closed his eyes, all Mikai could see was Hana's face.

Her soft and milky skin. Her cherry red lips. Her cocoa-coloured eyes.

Amber: Is she still on your mind, brother?

Mikai: I don't know why...why she hasn't spoken to me

Amber: Perhaps you scared her off.

Mikai: I apologised...it's all Toni's fault

Amber: It takes two to tango, Mikai.

Mikai: I know but he is evil. He manipulates women, gets in their heads...

Amber: Only a fool would fall for his lies.

Mikai: Hana is not a fool.

Amber: Then she knew what she was doing. She wanted to get back at you, for how you treated her.

Mikai: But with him!?

Amber: ...and it worked.

Mikai: I'm going to kill him. I'm going to kill of the Wai tribe.

Almost every night, Mikai would mutter these words. Amber was growing tired of it. If she didn't do anything soon, she feared for what her brother would do. So, Amber took it upon herself to give Hana a visit. She was greeted by Enola, who was concerned about Amber randomly showing up at their residence. Amber explained to her that she was here on behalf of Mikai, to talk to Hana. Reluctantly, Enola brought her to her target, but stood by on watch.

Hana: What are you doing here?

Amber: You think it's okay to mess my brother about like this?

Hana: Is this about Toni? Because I saw you with him.

Amber: Yes, and I rejected that pathetic loser. Now, why haven't you been in contact with Mikai? he's losing his mind over you.

Hana: It's...complicated.

Amber: Well you need to speak to him, before he does something drastic.

Hana: That's...one of the reasons why I'm avoiding him...

Amber: Then at least tell him it's over.

Hana: I don't know if he'd like that...

Enola: What if I came with you?

Amber: No, this doesn't concern you. This is between my brother and her.

Enola: Then why didn't he come over himself?

Amber: Because he is an idiot. Anyway, you owe him an explanation, Hana. If you don't say anything soon, then don't be surprised when he does something...

Amber's threatening words made Hana feel even more guilty, but she was right. Who knew what Mikai would do if Hana continued to ignore him? He had already attacked Toni on multiple occasions, and he had indirectly endangered her life.

Later that night, Hana slowly made her way towards the Ahi temple, her heart pounding and her stomach heavy. She cautiously approached the entrance, nervous to make eye-contact with her former lover.

Her impending doom was delayed a little by Amber noticing her presence. Hana could hear voices inside, but was too afraid to peep in. Then, Mikai came out of nowhere, startling her. He approached her with open arms, expecting a warm embrace.

Hana: No, Mikai...I can't

Mikai: What?

Hana: I can't do this anymore.

Mikai: What do you mean?

Hana: Your outbursts, it's just too much.

Mikai did not respond.

Hana: And it's...not fair, after what I did to you. With Toni-

Mikai: Are you in love with him?

Hana: What? No! He...he flirted with your sister!

Mikai: That bastard...he's just out to get me, isn't he?

Hana: I-

Mikai: He ruined what we had together. And then he thinks he can chat up my sister...

Hana: He-

Mikai: I'm going to kill him, Hana. The sooner this island is free of him, the better.

Hana: What- no, you're not going to kill him!

Mikai: I will, for us.

Hana: There is no us. Not anymore. Not after my stupid mistake-

Mikai: You can't stop me.

Amber: I can.

Out of the darkness of the temple, Amber appeared.

Amber: I won't let you do anything of the sort, Mikai.

Mikai: How many lives has that man ruined? It's not just us, you know. He is pure evil.

Amber: He's just a loser who takes advantage of women. That doesn't mean he deserves to die.

Mikai: But he took the woman I love away from me.

Amber: How many times have I told you, it takes TWO to tango.

Hana: She is right...

Mikai: So, what you're saying is, Hana should die, too?

Amber: What is wrong with you? Of course that isn't what I meant.

Mikai looks at his sister with watery eyes. He shakes his head in disbelief.

Mikai: Am I just supposed to...move on? How can I? There's no other woman...no one else who can help our tribe. We'll become extinct, and then-

Amber: Listen to yourself. Hana isn't the only woman on this island, for goodness sake.

Hana: Is that...all you thought of me? Just a pawn...to help your dying tribe?

Mikai: I...need to go for a walk.

As Mikai leaves, the two women look at each other.

Hana: I'm sorry. I really am. I-

Amber: Honestly, I am not surprised you did what you did. It was scummy, but it's not like Mikai gave you an easy time.

Hana: Do you think...he will hurt Toni?

Amber: Let's head over there and find out, shall we?

Mikai's Malice

The opposing Sims joined forces, rushing to reach the Wai residence before Mikai could make it. The entire family were out in the garden, doing various activities. Toni immediately recognised the two women, and swiftly went to hide. As he did this, Dyami noticed his brother's bizarre behaviour, and looked behind him to find one of his sworn enemies stood there.

Dyami: You're not welcome here.

Amber: I am not here for a fight. I am here to warn you about Mikai.

Dyami: Oh, you want to help us now?

Amber: He wants to kill your brother.

Dyami: What's new?

Hearing the commotion, Nami approaches the bickering nemeses.

Nami: Hear her out. She wouldn't come here if it wasn't serious.

Amber: We don't know where he's gone, but we think he's on his way here.

Dyami: Did you not see him on your way over?

Hana looks at Amber with a concerned expression.

Amber: No, perhaps he took a different route. Or has went to plan out how he is going to do it...look, I don't know.

Dyami: Alright. Nami, take Odin inside.

Nami nods, scrambling to get her son into their hut. Dyami looks around for his brother.

Dyami: Toni!?

The sheepish man carefully revealed himself from behind a tree.

Toni: ...what?

Dyami: Did you not hear?

Toni: I did...

Dyami: Mikai is out for your blood...and it probably won't stop there.

Hana: Perhaps Amber and I should stay, until he makes an appearance.

Dyami: We can handle ourselves, thank you very much.

Amber: No, she's right. If Mikai is here to hurt you, he will hesitate if he sees me or Hana.

Toni: Your call, brother

Dyami: Fine.

Meanwhile, Mikai was indeed on walk like he said - a very lengthy one, to the hills situated on the other side of the island. He made his way past the serene estate of the Uila tribe, towards a peculiar hut made of stone.

If the rumours were correct, a witch was living here.

Mikai climbed over the walls that surrounded the hut, and quietly approached the large, intimidating door. His right knuckles knocked three times, with a delay between each one.

A pale woman with dark hair and an exasperated expression opened the door. Her clothes were not like the other islanders.

Mikai: Can you help me?

Pouli: With what?

Mikai: A curse...or something

Pouli rolled her mossy eyes, then beckoned for Mikai to enter. The house was cold, with bleak walls, dreary floors, and gloomy decor. Pouli took the man upstairs, to a room with multiple large bookcases that towered over Mikai, like a foreshadow of the despair that was yet to come.

Pouli: You don't know anything about curses, do you?

Mikai: Actually, my home is cursed...by fires

Pouli: Oh, you're the Ahi fellow.

Mikai: You know who I am?

Pouli: I know everyone on this island.

Mikai: Whatever. I just want you to...curse someone I hate.

Pouli: If you hate them so much, why not bring about their demise yourself?

Mikai: Not just him, his whole tribe.

Pouli: The Wai tribe.

Mikai: How did you...uh, yes, the Wai tribe.

Pouli: Do you have anything particular in mind?

Mikai: I just want them to suffer...by something they love. Like I did.

Pouli: Water.

Mikai: Water?

Pouli: Isn't it ironic? We need water to survive, but it can kill us in many ways.

Mikai: I don't care, I just want to hurt them badly.

Pouli: Good, I will need your hatred for the spell.

Mikai: I have a lot of it.

Pouli: Then it will be very powerful. Luckily, they live near a beach, so a water source will be easy.

Mikai: I don't care about the details. Just ruin their lives.

Novaport: Emera Island Period #2

Man About The Island

Let's cast our minds back to a couple of years ago. What exactly happened between Enola, Sommer, and Toni?

Naivety

Seemingly like most relationships on the island, it all started at the local market. Enola was delivering homegrown fruits and vegetables, ready to be sold. Little did she know that Toni Wai had been observing her for a while.

He noticed she was struggling with some particularly large melons, and offered a helping hand. They continued to talk afterwards, with Toni generously buying Enola a drink at the nearby cocktail bar.

Enola: Your side of the island is quiet, isn't it?

Toni: Only if you drown out the arguments between my brother and the Ahi tribe.

Enola: What do they even argue about?

Toni: I don't know...we've always hated each other, way before any of us were born, and it's not hard to see why.

Enola had heard rumours about the wars between the two tribes, resulting in many untimely deaths. The Ahi were dying out, but perhaps it was their own fault. They were notorious for being aggressive and rude to other people on the island.

Enola: Is it because...your people killed a lot of them?

Toni: If you knew anything about them, you'd know why we did those things...

Enola: Still...

Toni: That's why I like coming here, away from it all. Not to mention the women on this side of the island are quite attractive, especially you Honua women.

Toni's words made Enola blush.

Toni: So, I think you'll be seeing a lot more of me.

He stayed true to his word. The pair would often meet at the market, talking over drinks. Then, they began taking walks around the island, exploring the golden beaches and emerald hills. It was on one of these beaches that the couple shared their first kiss.

After a while, Enola wanted to take things to the next level. They hadn't met each other families yet, but her mother and sister were aware of the relationship. Did Toni's family know about her?

Eventually, Enola introduced Toni to her sister, Sommer. She told her so much about him - how he made her smile and feel special. And Sommer wanted to meet Toni to make sure he was a good man, for her sister was awful at noticing the bad in people.

Enola: This is my younger sister, Sommer. And this is Toni.

Sommer: Hello.

Toni: I've seen Sommer around, you do look a lot like each other.

Sommer: Enola has told me a lot about you...and I mean A LOT

Toni: Is that so?

Enola: You're making sound obsessed, Sommer...

Sommer: It's a good thing for Toni, but not for my ears.

Throughout the conversation, Toni couldn't help but stare at Sommer. There was something about her that was different to Enola - the way she held herself in conversation; her feisty yet care-free attitude.

From then on, the time Toni spent with Enola was overshadowed by his desire for her sister. He grew bored of their long walks, of hearing about the mundane stories of Enola's family. He wanted something more, but not Enola's idea of more. As Toni became infatuated with Sommer, his conversations with Enola narrowed to one subject: her sister.

Soon, Enola noticed the difference in her lover's behaviour. His kisses became swift, his embrace cold, and his words minimal - unless Sommer was the topic. Perhaps it was a family matter that was weighing Toni down, Enola thought.

On her sister's advice, Enola asked Toni what was bothering him. He went along with the lie, that it was just family problems. Enola offered him comfort, but he could find no such thing in her anymore.

Inimical Intentions

Toni was once again at the market, and this time it was Sommer who was struggling with heavy melons. So, he tried the same thing he did with Enola, except this time Sommer refused his help. That was the difference between the sisters, Toni thought.

Perhaps offering to buy Sommer a drink would work, which it did. She wasn't one to turn down free alcohol.

Toni: You're so different from your sister.

Sommer: Is that a bad thing?

Toni: No, not at all. I actually like it.

Sommer: You...like it?

Toni: Enola is sweet and all, but she's just not my type...

Sommer: What?

Toni: Ever since I met you, I can't stop thinking about you.

Sommer didn't know what to say.

Toni: It drives me crazy. When I'm with her, all I can imagine is being with you instead.

Sommer: Why...why are you still seeing her, then?

Toni: Because I want to get close to you. We could have so much fun together.

Sommer: How dare you...you think you can use my sister to get to me!?

Toni: Well, it's not like-

Sommer: You can have this drink back, you vermin.

Sommer threw the drink, which Toni paid for, in his face and stormed off. She ran home to her sister, to tell her what happened.

Now everything made sense.

However, Enola blamed herself. If only she didn't introduce Sommer to Toni, things could have been different. But Sommer thought otherwise. "A man like that will never be tied down", she told her grieving sister.

Novaport: Emera Island Period #1

The Fuse That Sparked Feuds

Her name is Hana Honua.

Her very existence has caused many quarrels between the tribes of Emera Island.

Let's start from the beginning.

Sato and Kala

Sato was the patriarch of the Uila tribe. He was married to a woman named Mila, and they had three sons together: Yuma, Onida, and Hinto. But this was not enough to satisfy Sato, so he looked elsewhere.

Then he saw the beautiful Kala Honua, and thought that he must have her.

Kala humoured him for a while, but soon caught feelings, resulting in an affair. Soon after, she fell pregnant. Sato told her no one could ever find out, and he cut her off.

Luckily, Kala had a loving sister, Kohana, matriarch of the Honua tribe. She helped her through everything.

A couple of decades later, Sato's wife, Mila, became gravely ill. On her deathbed, surrounded by her family, Sato whispered into her ear about his affair with Kala. And so, Mila died with tears in her eyes.

Yuma, being the curious man he is, wanted to know what his father said to his mother. Only when Sato's days were up did he tell his son the truth. Yuma became enraged, and plotted revenge with his brother, Onida - to kill the woman Sato had an affair with.

It was a stormy night, and the Honua tribe were tucked away in their beds. The brothers snuck in quietly, counting each tribe member. But there was an extra one...someone they did not recognise, until they looked at her serene face. She looked exactly like their father.

Onida suggested that they kill her, too, but Yuma did not want to diverge from the plan. And so, they approached the sleeping Kala, eclipsing her face with a cloth soaked with chemicals.

Now that Kala was enjoying a different kind of sleep, the pair dragged her from her bed, to the outside. Her body sloshed through the wet mud, covering her head to toe until she was unrecognisable. As the lightning illuminated the night sky, Yuma struck the sombre woman, bringing an eternal darkness to her mind.

Unfortunately, the thunder woke up Nara Honua, and so the brothers fled the scene. Kala's body was not discovered until the next morning, by her niece, Sommer.

Kohana immediately knew who was behind this. She confronted the Uila brothers alongside Nara and Sommer. Astonishingly, Yuma confessed to everything, with a sly smile on his face.

And so started the feud between the Uila and Honua tribes.

Mikai and Toni

As Hana grew into a beautiful young adult, she could not escape the prying eyes of the single males on her island - Mikai Ahi and Toni Wai.

Mikai was the first to pursue her, for he desperately needed a wife to carry on his legacy. The Ahi were notorious for keeping their distance from the other tribes, and so Hana was flattered.

But Mikai had a short fuse, and his outbursts often scared Hana. After one particular argument, Hana was consoled by Toni Wai, who had been eyeing her up for a while. He took the opportunity to make a move, and Hana being naïve, fell for it. This was a chance to get revenge on Mikai.

It didn't take long for Toni to fall head-over-heals for Hana. She wasn't just pleasing to look at, but she was intelligent and caring, too.

However, Hana began feeling guilty, and so she went to her cousin, Enola, for advice.

Hana: Enola, I think I've done a bad thing...

Enola: Bad? In what way?

Hana: I...kissed Toni

Enola: Toni...

Hana: Yes, I know it's wrong, but Mikai...he upset me and Toni was there for me. And he is much more relaxing to be around.

Enola: Oh Hana...

Hana: What do I do?

Enola: There's something you should know about Toni...

Hana: What?

Enola: A couple of years ago, he fooled me. He pretended to like me, but really he was interested in Sommer and was just using me...

Hana: I'm- what?

Enola: Yes...well, Sommer had none of it. She saw right through him.

Hana: Oh no...what have I done...

Enola: It's okay. There wasn't much going on between us anyway...

Hana: I'm such an idiot

Enola: I think the best thing you can do, is tell Mikai

Hana: But he will not be happy...

Enola: Of course not, but if you really care about him, you should tell him.

Eventually, Hana plucked up the courage to tell Mikai about her affair with Toni. Surprisingly, Mikai did not become angry with her, and instead focused his attention to Toni, adding further fuel to conflict between the Ahi and Wai tribes.

Toni, being a womaniser, sought a new form of revenge on Mikai. His sister, Amber, was also attractive and smart. Completely disregarding Hana, Toni made a move on Amber, but she rejected him.

Out of embarrassment, Toni went running back to Hana, begging for forgiveness.

Toni: Hana, I didn't mean it. I just wanted to get back at Mikai...

Hana: I thought you cared about me, but you were just using me!

Toni: Come on, Hana...think of the times we've had together. You were always on your toes with Mikai, but with me-

Hana: I will still be on my toes, because you betrayed my trust...just like I did with Mikai...

Toni: Yes, well, he deserved it. He treats you awfully

Hana: And so do you.

Now, Hana is keeping her distance from both Mikai and Toni.
